green hydrogen projects in india

Let us find our the green hydrogen projects in India. In recent years, countries across the world are focusing on green energy. Energy companies have been investing mostly in solar, wind, energy storage, and electric vehicles. Of late, Green hydrogen – hydrogen produced from renewable energy – emerged as one of the best sources of green energy that seems key in the path to a net zero carbon society.

Hydrogen as a fuel has been used in many industries for a few years now mostly generated by using coal or fossil fuels. Though hydrogen has been replacing fossil fuels in industrial processes such as refining, iron, steel, chemicals, and transport, still it has been producing carbon. Green hydrogen can be the best source of energy to replace grey carbon or fossil fuels that are being used in various industries such as transportation, manufacturing, etc.

In India, the government has already kick-started its green hydrogen journey in 2023 with the national launch of its National Hydrogen Mission with an investment plan of ~$2.39 billion. The country wants to transform itself into a global hub for green hydrogen production and export.

Many major companies in India have started making the switch to Green hydrogen production. Major conglomerates such as Reliance Industries, GAIL, NTPC, Adani Green, Indian oil corporations, L&T, etc have jumped onto this bandwagon and promised a huge investment in green hydrogen projects in India.
